Celebrating 35 Years of Advancing Justice-LA

Thursday, October 25th 2018
On October 17, 2018, Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Los Angeles celebrated its 35th anniversary with over 1,200 guests.
In 1983, Stewart Kwoh opened the Asian Pacific American Legal Center’s doors in Los Angeles when there were very few options available for the region’s Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. His vision was to raise AAPI voices in the struggle for civil rights and access to justice.
Decades later, APALC, now Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Los Angeles, is the nation’s largest civil rights organization serving the AAPI community. We couldn’t have made it to where we are now without you.
This year, we’re honoring Stewart and his wife Pat for their lifetime of work and dedication to the community.
At our 35th Anniversary Dinner, we recognized the hard work, dedication, and vision of our president, and executive director, Stewart Kwoh and his wife Pat Lee Kwoh by presenting them with Lifetime Achievement Awards.
