Building the Capacity of Our Community

In Advancing Justice - LA’s work on many issues (e.g., Census, citizenship, redistricting, heath care reform, etc.), Advancing Justice - LA partners with Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (NHPI) community organizations. Some of these organizations are in Los Angeles or Orange County, but many are located throughout California, from San Diego to the Central Valley to San Francisco. Many are small, with only a few staff and limited budgets.

Statewide community-based organization (CBO) network

To increase the sustainability of small partner groups, as well as to expand their ability to work with Advancing Justice - LA on education and advocacy efforts, Advancing Justice - LA provides funding and other resources as well as technical assistance and training.  Topics include basic and advance training on fundraising, policy advocacy, and traditional and social media.

Non-profit center

For Los Angeles-based groups, Advancing Justice - LA opened a non-profit center in 2011, to provide office, meeting, and storage space for small and emerging organizations. These organizations will also receive training and technical assistance. For select groups, Advancing Justice - LA also provides fiscal sponsorship and administrative support.
