
Janelle Hu is the Director of Individual Giving & Corporate Relations, working closely with program staff and institutional supporters to identify and raise funds for the agency.
Hu served as Program Manager for Advancing Justice - LA's Health Access Project (HAP), which works to protect and promote access to public benefits and health care programs for immigrants, and monitors health care reform implementation issues that affect Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Native Hawaiians and other underserved, immigrant communities. Hu managed numerous initiatives with the HAP team and Health Justice Network partners, who have completed over 1.6 million outreach touches through 121,000 events and enrolled 12,000 individuals into Covered California and Medi-Cal.
Hu joins Advancing Justice - LA as a lawyer, management consultant, and nonprofit director with over fifteen years of expertise working in program management, policy making, and campaign strategy. Hu led a management consulting team with Wittenberg Weiner Consulting, a small, woman-owned business providing management consulting services to U.S. government agencies. Hu also facilitated the passage of election laws for the U.S. House of Representatives and directed a national nonpartisan voter mobilization campaign with APIAVote and its local coalition partners that resulted in over 348,000 voter contacts in seven Asian languages across 20 states and 25 cities.
Hu holds a Law Degree and Masters in Public Policy from Georgetown University and a Bachelors Degree in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
