Digital Communications Strategist

DeGuia

Jeff DeGuia is Asian Americans Advancing Justice-LA’s Digital Communications Strategist.  He supports the organization’s mission through social media and supports the Communications team in different ways including: press releases, press events, and newsletters.  He also assists the ‘Endless Possibilities. Citizenship Now!’ campaign.
 
Before Advancing Justice-LA, Jeff previously worked in the Wedding/Special Events industry, has interned with FilAm ARTS and their Festival of Pilipino Arts and Culture and also was an Impact Fellow with Advancing Justice-Chicago in 2010.  At the age of 19, Jeff founded ManilaStar Events, an Asian American nonprofit focused around the arts with the mission to increase representation of Asian Americans in mainstream media and to inspire younger generations to pursue their artistic and creative dreams.
 
Originally from Chicago, Jeff graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and received a Professional Certificate in Marketing from UCLA Extension.  He continues to work and focus on increasing API representation in mainstream media and building bridges between APIs and other communities of color through storytelling and creativity.
