She has been working on Advancing Justice-LA’s “Your Vote Matters” campaign since May 2014, recruiting and training volunteers and organizing phone banks to conduct in-language voter outreach and education. Your Vote Matters is one of the largest and most diverse Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) voter mobilization efforts in the country, through which volunteers, along with a coalition of over a dozen community partners, have conducted outreach in up to 17 different AAPI languages to encourage community members to make their voices heard through the power of voting.

Prior to Advancing Justice-LA, Shelly was a community organizer at the Asian American Drug Abuse Program. She also volunteers with API Equality-LA, an organization that advocates for the rights and fair treatment of LGBTQ people in Asian and Pacific Islander communities.
